Black-Owned Cannabis Brands in NYC: Splash Cannabis Co.

Feb 17, 2026

Splash Cannabis Co. is a New York–based cannabis brand founded by Jeffrey Turenne and Amar Singh, built on the idea that cannabis can bring people together. The brand was created with a simple goal: to make it easier for people to connect with others who share their interests, passions, and lifestyle. With a focus on quality and community, Splash offers thoughtfully cultivated products designed to enhance social moments and everyday rituals.

At Maryjane Dispensary on the Upper East Side, we proudly carry Splash cannabis flower pre-packs, giving our customers access to premium New York-grown cannabis with a strong local story behind it.

1. What inspired you to enter the cannabis industry, and why was ownership important to you?

I grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where cannabis was always part of the environment—but so were the consequences. I spent eight years incarcerated in New York, and that experience completely changed how I saw opportunity, freedom, and ownership. I witnessed firsthand how people from my community were punished for something that later became legal and profitable for others.

When I came home, entering the cannabis industry wasn’t about chasing a trend—it was about rewriting my story. Ownership mattered to me because it meant control over my future and the ability to build something legitimate and lasting. Cannabis became a second chance for me, a way to turn past mistakes into purpose, and to create a foundation not just for myself, but for my family and community.

2. As a Black owner, what change or impact do you hope to make within the cannabis industry or your community?

For me, this isn’t about the cannabis community—it’s about our communities. Cannabis can be a real opportunity for people who come from the block to finally have a seat at the table. So many of us already have an entrepreneurial mindset from the streets—understanding risk, hustle, supply, demand, and survival—but we were never given a legal lane to apply it.

I want to show that those same skills can be redirected into legitimate ownership, structure, and generational wealth. My goal is to help change the narrative from participation to ownership, and to prove that where you come from doesn’t limit where you can go—it can actually prepare you for it.

3. What has been your biggest success so far as a cannabis owner?

My biggest success has been building something that allows me to give opportunities to people who come from similar backgrounds as me. I’ve been able to bring in individuals I relate to—people who understand the struggle, the hustle, and what it’s like to start with limited options—and help them find their lane in this space.

Watching people grow, gain confidence, and see a real future for themselves through this work means more to me than any title or milestone. Being able to create a platform where people like myself can learn, build, and move forward together is what I consider true success.

4. What advice would you give to other Black entrepreneurs considering cannabis ownership?

The grind is real—it takes patience and endurance. This market is unpredictable, so you have to stay solid and focused. Learn to focus on the signal and ignore the noise. Your word is everything—it’s all you really have—so move with integrity and stand on what you say. Relationships matter more than quick wins, so nurture them and protect them.
